6BRA Primers

Has anyone used CCI 450 Magnum primers with any success with H4895 and 105gr bullets?

Anyone got any real world data to suggest one primer works better than any other with this combo?

Thanks :)

I am using cci 450's primers with H4895 and Sierra 107's in my 6BRA. With the crappy weather we have had i have not been able to test the way i would like, but it looks real promising.

When I tried 400's, they blanked easily in a new Kelbly Panda set up by Alex Wheeler. BR's and 450's have never shown a problem. Most others I see at Manatee are using 450's in their BRA's. None use Rel 15 as Varget and H4895 seem to rule. As for me, nothing shot as good as my old Dashers and I have temporarily given up on the BRA and that new barrel for now.

Another new barrel in and reamer on order. Going to try again.

I've had success with H4895 + CCI450s with 103s and 108s. I don't have any experience with 105gr bullets.

I know other local shooters that are having success with H4895/450s/Berger 105 Hybrids at mid-range.

Im having good success with 450s and 4895, although I tested the 400s and got better results with 4895 but primers blanked/pierced. Stolle Panda F Class action.

Same thing happened with the 400s for me also.

These were shot at 400m.
400s left, 450s middle and BR4s right.
I tweaked seating depth a little on the 450s and groups tightened nicely.

Using panda action and H4895 I have to use 450’s.

My panda also has a “TG” ejector that sits a little low (will catch a fingernail) on the bolt face ...i do get a slight mark on base of brass That will polish away in the tumbler.

I have a new ejectorless action on the way. I have been waiting since August on this build. :(

So, we could conclude the primer simply changed the tune, so you retuned and all was well then?
Yes, I tested at 200m initially and found the best powder charge and seating depth then went to 400m which is the extent of that range..
Primers—the 400s blanked more with further testing after shooting the initial groups in the pic above..I liked the elevation with the 450s at 400m so I retested with more jump and more jam and ended with 8jam to tighten groups up with the 450s at 400m.

Edit- my initial seating depth was 5jam.

I have had very good results with the 108's matched with the Fed 205m behind 30.54 grains of H4895. my freebore is .104. I shoot the 108's 7k into the lands.

I've had good results with both 450 and BR4 primers with H4895, RL15 and 105gr bullets. Accuracy-wise and velocity-wise there's buggerall in it - both powders and primers will shoot clean with ease provided I do my part. Velocity wise I'm sitting around 2970-2980fps with 30.4gr of H4895. Barrel is a 30" Krieger, 1:8 twist 5R.

When it comes to blanking, if these 6BRAs are chambered right, sometimes thats you first pressure sign you get. They will take some serious pressure and not show it.
