6br vs 6x47 for Ruger #1

I'm a new member here and have searched many topics on these calibers. Hopefully you can provide some good info on these to help make my decision easier. I'm rebarreling my #1 with a Pac-Nor barrel. It's currently a .243. I've narrowed it down to the 2 listed. I'm 90% using it for varmints and will be shooting 75 or 87gr V-max's depending on which one I pick to have a good velocity. The twist I've got down to 10 or 12 depending on the bullet and planning to use a 28" barrel. I like to shoot targets also so I figure that is the advantage of the BR. Most shots at varmints are under 500yds but there is always chances for longer shots. I appreciate any comments that you can provide along with any good velocity/accurate loads you've had success with.

6br, 6x47 lapua is still rather new. Since your not shooting 100 plus grain pills, why not go with the 6br and have tremendous bore life.

RHINOUT!

I have a #1 in .223 and 7mmRm.
Both will shoot sub moa, stock.

I bought both planning on rebarrelling, but both shoot too well.

I am going to get a 6mmBR reamer and another #1 rifle.

I have no temptation to get a 6x47, as my .223s can fill that niche.

Which 6*47 are you thinking of. The new one based on the 6.5mm Lapua, or the one based on the 222 Rem Mag. 'Cos you must have one wonderful 223 if it can fill the same niche as the new one....

I vote for a 6BR. It is an incredible varmint cartridge in the lighter bullets. They don't have to be pushed fast to be accurate and you can get phenominal barrel life.

I love those Ruger Number One rifles! Regards, Guy
