6BR twist rate

Is there a clear path for determining the proper twist rate for different weight 6mm bullets used in the 6mm norma br?
you can use the tables/calculators to find a twist to match your bullets but practically speaking 8 and 14 are the two most common.— there are some going a little faster to say
7 1/2 and 13. you need 8 or faster for the 105 up but an 8 will usually shoot many different weights. people use a 14 who want to use lighter bullets exclusively and want to get the absoulute accuracy out of them - usually in the 65 to 70 grain range mabie 58 to 70

I did a powder test a few weeks back with my 6BRX 1 - 8 Tw. and 68 gr. Bergers to try VV-N135 and the best group was .153 @ 100 yds. with 33.7 gr.

68 GR. BERGER FBHP M 1.751 O M 2.236 COL T/L B S .333 B C .255
POWDER TEST 32.9 33.3 [33.7] GR. VV-N135 PRIMER CCI 450M
SEATED @ 1.741 O M 2.226 COL .010 OTL .267 BUSHING

1:8 Twist worked for me out to 600 yards with 105s and 107s, with standard 6BR with 2910 muzzle velocity. NOTE: that's running conventional (non-VLD) bullets in a 3-groove barrel that's considerably faster than average. I also run a 1:8" twist in 6BRDX running 105s about 2970.

i know they say you cant overstabiliize a bullet- thats if its a perfect bullet— its interesting to hear you shot a 68g in an 8t. 80 berger is the smallest i have tried and they shot well. i have various 70s i will try. I think i have some of those 68 bergers to. thanks Bill

When I found this site, the concept of the 6mm BR consumed me. Own 4 now. 8 twist for the heavies. The 10 twist is amazing with 80 and 88's. I run the 66 through 75's in the 12 twist. And lastly a XP 100 with a 15" 12 twist running 68's ( poker chips at 300 yds is a blast with this one!). On a side note the 8 twist shoots very well with just about all weights.

Mine is a Criterion 7.5" twist and shoots 105 bullets very good with minimal load development.
Yup, Same Barrel / Twist, I used, on my 6 XC and it shoot's, Berger or, Sierra, 80 gr Varmints, 95 gr. Classic's and 108 EH's, Into, the .2's and .3's ( One Ragged hole ) and about, as good as, my older, Eye's can do, .. anyway !
I haven't tried any, 70 grainer's, YET.
Doubt that, you could, go "Wrong" with, EITHER, Twist !
The 1-8 Twists were, Out of Stock, so "Gambled on", the 1-7.5 and I am quite, Happy !
