6BR trim lenght

Hi Neil,

The trim to length for the 6BR is 1.550" according to the 5th edition of the Sierra Reloading Manual.

Cordially,
Bob Blaine

Many of us leave them a little longer. After one firing I trim and re-chamfer. I trim to 1.556" which is usually about the shortest case in the lot. Some guys leave 'em longer than that, maybe 1.557". I don't think it makes much difference, provided there is not chamber interference issue), as long as your cases are consistent.

Most of the chambers vary so much in the trim length, that I take a new case and bore out the flash hole so my Hawkeye bore scope will fit through it, and then I can see where it sets as far as the chamber is concerned, and then set my trim length from that. When they are cut to short they seem to leave a residue right at the end of the chamber just before the throat. Not sure if that restriction means anything or not but if it's not there I seem to sleep better.

Preacher, if you are using a borescope to set your trim length, do you try to flirt with a max OAL brass to increase your case volume? I am just curious as I had not thought of that. That could open up a whole world of possibilities.
