243 AI trim length

Out of the box Lapua .243 is right at trim length and it'll shorten with fireforming. Unless the reamer was spec'd to that brass, the chamber is probably .030" longer. That stuff will never need trimming.

Yes, to the above: chamber length is probably .030" longer than case length. Only way to be sure is get one of the chamber length gages, sold by Sinclair, about $6.50 & re-usable). I found some of my chambers to be as much as .038" longer than max. case length. On top of that, the loading manuals tell you to "trim .010" shorter than max case length, in some instances creating a gap of .048". Bad info: but the gauge tells you what your individual chamber length is/ not "one-size-fits-all".

I will get the gage and check mine..

another question I have a bager mag and can load to the lands with the AMAX at OAL Tip to tail at 2.830,The mag should allow 2.900 or just under.

How do the Ojives compare from the 105 AMAX to a 105VLD Berger..
I have a bager mag system and want to keep mag feeding I am sure the VLD would be to Long for the mag..

Thanks for the help!
