small based dies usually work to squeeze the cases base enough to eliminate the "click", but i had an unexpected result with a 243 ackley. i had a profound click so , as suggested, i ran the cases into a 30-06 small based die that brought the base down! that brass had to go somewhere...the shoulder moved WAY forward, so i bumped it with the redding body die and it had to move about.004 thous or more. the case chambered really nicely, BUT i got a DONUT FROM HELL! the portion of the body die that pushes the shoulder back must have a small gap between it and the neck because brass got squeezed inward to form a donut that was not there before. a wilson neck reamer got rid of it but it was a major pita. i agree that a custom die is in order...live and learn.
