6BR short range HV

Hello once again,,Its been a while sense my last visit. As last reported by me here over one year ago I did have built an LV panda actioned 6BR.I came to enjoy it very much in both 100-200 score and group shooting.I also have an HV rifle that started life as a 308 OBM and was re-chambered last year to the 30BR which unlike the rest of the free world I could not stand. It kicked too much for my wore out shoulder and just never shot near as good as most others rifles in the chambering. So the ??'s here are..I will have a 6BR barrel installed on my HV rifle soon,Should I go with the same tight neck as on my LV "262" or should I go with no turn at all or somewhere in the middle..I have often felt the the 262 was a good waste of brass cutting them down that far but my LV rifle does shoot great.Thanks..LW

No turns are the easiest route, but if you're looking to get as close to perfection as you can get, then you need to neck turn.
Personally I really like my .269 neck chambers. Take a one pass skim cut over the entire neck and you're done. No muss, no fuss.

Thank You Danny for your reply.
Next?. Where I can order a new reamer in 269?
Next? What brand die set are we needing here,I use Harrell FL and Wilson chamber seater in my LV but also use the 262 neck.

the Harrell sizer and wilson SS micrometer seater are as good as one can get for the $$,I LOVE mine!)

As far as a reamer, click to Dave Kiff at Pacific Tool & Gauge on our sponser page: http://www.6mmbr.com/sponsors.html

Ditto on JB's post as far as the dies and Dave Kiff. But I,m wondering why you are trying to fight an uphill battle with the BR case. It's a great little cartrige but I feel it is better suited to heavier bullets and longer range benchrest than the point blank that you are competing in. If you dont mind investing in an extra set of dies, why not go with the cartridge that absolutely dominates the equipment lists. Look at the lists on the IBS website and I dont think you'll find a single competitor that used a 6br. And I'm not talking one match, check them all.

I was waiting for someone to come at me with this set of why don't you's..Be just glad to chat on the subject.

First and foremost I am well minded on what is in use and have used the most of it many times over.I just came away from the 30BR,and having a tight neck 308 OBM prior to that."The up-hill battle" the hill ain't as step as one might think.I enjoy being different and also enjoy the 6BR.I had little too no luck with the 30BR,mine even with two different barrels just would not shoot better then somewhere in the 12X to 16X range, yes I am more then aware that it is the king of score shooting at 100 yards and that it takes 23 Xs avg at this time to be competitive. just as I am very aware that the 6PPC is king of group at 100 yards.I never was a fan of the PPC,,and my wore out shoulder even with a recoil pad hurts after a day with the 30BR ..Now you have heard my reasons good or bad for being the different guy over there on the end shooting the 6BR in both group and score match's..extra advise,,don't miss or let one slip out or IL beat ya with it too...LW
