6br seating depth?

I'm loading 30.4gr of Varget into a Lapua case using CCI 450 and the 107 SMK. Just at the lands, this load will shoot in the .2-.3" at 100yds, but at 300yds it'll shoot around 1.5" or larger. When I seat +.006" into the lands, I get .4-.6" at 100yds and under 1" at 300yds. I'm going to stick with the +.006 seating depth, since I have a 6PPC for the short range. I'd just like to know if this is normal or does my load need some adjusting?

Btw; this rifle has a 26", 1-8 twist Kreiger 4 land with .113 fb. Vel. 2848, sd 5.74.

When I was shooting my 8-twist, it liked 80 grain Berger FB Varmint Match bullets, touching or slightly "jammed" When I went to the 14-twist, it likes the 65 grain Barts and 68 grain Barts/Hottensteins at .009 off the lands. Each barrel will tell you what it likes. You're getting good feedback from yours. I'd try a little more jam, or a larger jump to see which way the barrel wants to go. Good luck - the fun has just started! ;D

For example, If this is a benchrest rifle running in a rest top with 3 inch bag and 3 inch forend something as simple as to much grip or pressure on the sides of your forend can cause the horizontal you are getting, try loosening up your front bag if this is the type of set up you are using. Also make sure your rear bag is lined up perfectly as well ;) Might also play with your neck tension.

Actually, I've used a front rest and rear bag. But now I just use a bipod and rear bag because this rifle is set up as a repeater. Groups are slightly better with the front rest, but groups still showed basically the same difference. In that seated at the lands the 100yd groups are tighter than the 300yd groups, and +.006 into the lands the 300yd groups are better than the 100yd groups. Anyone think that it might be that a good load for the heavies might need more time to "go to sleep"? I put that in parenthesis because a lot of people don't believe in it. Just asking.
