6BR Remington brass?

I just got my 6BRX done and should I even bother with Remington brass is my question? Does it have small primer pockets like Lapua brass?

Thanks!

Don't bother with Rem. 6mmBr brass. There's enough dimensional difference at the case head on the Rem. brass to cause it to stretch excessively with fireforming. The primer pockets were so loose after fireforming that I had to throw all 100 pieces out.

DukeDuke,

I'm sure those who can afford Lapua are very happy with it. I would probably be also if money was no object. . .but when I got my Encore 15" 6BR pistol, in order not to break the bank since I have family obligations, I got 400 pieces of Rem brass CHEAP and my gun frequently shoots into the high .3's - but generally averages about .5" for 5-shot groups at 100 yards from a solid bench with a bipod. I've never had a loose primer pocket or a split neck with over 10 loadings on these cases. Use reasonable loads on Rem brass and from my experience, you'll be fine.

The 6mmbr case will work just fine in a 6br chamber, However the 6brx is based off a 6br Norma case, with is dimensionally different than the Rem 6br brass. Fireforming the cases into 6brx brass will result in primer pockets that are so stretched, that they are useless for additional reloads. I trashed 100 cases in the process of trying that experiment.

Thanks again guys! So far I've used only Lapua brass. Out of about 60 fire formed cases lost just one! Don't know why. It was like the other ones, that formed well with no trouble at all. It cracked from the edge of the shoulder to the base of the neck. Other than that, everything is moving pretty smooth. Considering capacity, efficiency and performance, 6BRX is the best all-around cartridge I've used and heard of!

I found two out of a hundred to have the defect you describe from new. I saw the mark while neck turning, and never fired them. No other problems, and every one still going strong ten firings later.

You'll lose a case or 2 out of 100 when fireforming. You'll also get 15-17 reloads out of the brass without having to trim the cases. A great cartridge! I'll update loading data as it becomes available, under John708's project has started, by Rustystud.

I use a 6BR Redding bushing neck sizing die, and finish with a 6BR body die, bored out to full length, to resize the 6BRX case. This was Bob Crone, the case developer's, suggestion. It works just fine.
