6br rem vs 6br lapua

im sure this has been asked before but what is the difference between the two cases
i have a 6mmbr rem reamer with 100 thou throat. chambered two different guns and one will chamber the lapua round and one will only chamber the remington rounds.

So your saying that both barrels were chambered with the same reamer and one barrel won't take the same case as the other barrel will ??????????
That really don't seem possible if they were both done the same depth ....

sorry for the confusion

i have several 6mm br guns,5)
the 6mm br lapua chambered guns will chamber both the 6mmbr rem
brass and the 6mmbr lapua brass initially
the guns chambered with 6mm br remington will only chamber 6mm br remington brass.
they are all throated 100thou

i thought the difference in the brass was one had a longer neck
but which one as i would like to use lapua brass in all guns

dana
ps i dont interchange brass between guns, but its inconvient to have to buy both types of brass

Here's a couple of screenshots from LFDW that may help. You'll really need to look carefully to see the differences. However, when to comes to loading, that's another matter...anyhow, the cases:

FYI,

Anyone looking at the cartridge diagrams, be aware that current Lapua brass is .469 at the web, not .471. Dave Kiff's current reamers are tighter on this dimension as a result.

This is from our Cartridge FAQ:

Some lots of the Lapua are very slightly larger at the base than Norma. If you have a barrel tightly chambered for Norma brand brass, Lapua brass should fit if you use a small base size die. The tight spot is at the web of the case--it may be just a tiny bit larger diameter than the Norma. But the Norma brass is very good. It's just a good deal more expensive than Lapua from most vendors. Current lots of Lapua 6BR brass measure .2685"-.269" neck diameter with a bullet seated and .469" right at the web of an unfired case. We've seen some of the Lapua brass has a bit of a flare right at the mouth which means that a .271" neck might be too tight. Setting the neck for .272" is a pretty safe bet for current lots of Lapua brass.
