6BR primer question

Apologies for the very novice question but - I've just bought a 6BR barrel and on looking around for reload options,80 to 105 gr bullets) on this site CCI BR4s seem to be the predominant choice. I've had these on order for almost 2 months, no luck....... All I can find are CCI400s. These seem to work fine but before going on a load development rant using them I thought I would check on the advantages of the BR4s. My guess is improved MV. Or is there something I've missed?

All advice welcome. I've loaded a lot for various calibres,22 to 30ca) for hunting purposes but do not have the precision shooting experience you folk have.

cheers

Vaughan

You may find little or no difference between the BR4's and the CCI 400 primer. Many 6BR shooters use the CCI 450 magnum primer and find it works best. The Federal 205 primers do the job as well. You need to experiment.

Vaughan: In my 6BRs: with the 1-14 twists, I use VihtaVouri N133 powder, and Federal 205s seem to be best. With the faster twist, 1-9.25 and 1-8, heavier weight bullets, Varget is the powder of choice and prefer CCIBR4 primers, but if not available I do not hesitate to use the 'regular' CCI400. Have never been able to find any difference. My concern is 205s with VV powder and CCI with Varget.

Thanks Gentlemen,
The barrel is a 1:8 twist Blaser LRS2 and Varget was my powder of choice. Good to know if I go with the standard CCI400s all should be well.
