6BR Pistol Build

I started this sometime back. A few set backs really slowed me down. Now deer season gos full swing tomorrow so it will be some time before I wring it out. I started with a Savage Dual Port non designated action that has been registered as a pistol. The 18" X 1.250dia. 12 twist barrel is a Douglass premium select barrel chamber in 6MMBR by a gent with 42 years experience with Douglass Barrel. I still want a tactical bolt handle and the bolt fluted. Its topped off with a Bushnell 6500 Elite 4.5X30 scope set in a Burris base and rings. The aluminum stock is from PDC Customs with a red metallic powder coat.

This is going to be fun!!!!

David, Wow what a interesting nice looking build. I'm sure your going to have a blast ringing out your new rig. I have a 14lb switch barrel custom XP set in 3" wide laminated BR stock with a Brux 1.250 22" full bull chambered in 25x284 Win and a 20" Krieger HV chambered in 22BR, scoped with a SIII 8-32x56. All I can say is long barreled pistols are a hoot to shoot! I really like the looks of your stock.

Be a while before shooting. I pulled the bolt and sent to Sharp Shooters Supply for a fish net fluting and a red inlay. Also getting a red tactical bolt handle. Its deer season anyway and I need to hunt!

You'll have a blast with that rig, I have an XP 6br with a 1-14 and 1-8 twist barrels. I can get 100yd 0.25 groups w/o problem with the 1-14 (have had some 0.1s) and the 1-8 has made some nice sub 2" groups at 500yds.

Work on getting repeatable reference points in your grip setup, thumbs, webbing contacts, pressure points and you'll really see the groups shrink.
