6br Peterson Brass

Reviews on this brass for 6br is decidedly lacking.

I guess now that Lapua has decided to stop producing, we will be seeing more reviews on this product?

Anyway, any info would be appreciated.

I didn't say halted. I'm going to guess there will be limited supply of all Lapua brass in the future. Maybe I'm wrong. We will see.

Either way, anyone try the Peterson 6br brass?

I have both and like it, but honestly don't have enough reloads to tell you how long it will last. They make good brass.

The the various Peterson brass I've seen seems to have neck thicknesses a little thinner (my .308 and 6.5 PRC Peterson brass is slightly thinner than my Lapua brass). I don't know if this helps any, but take a gander at the neck wall thicknesses here and see what you think:

My batch was. I had to turn for my .272 neck chamber. Little less internal capacity. They did weigh more consistently than Lapua.

.272 should have not even been close.

What that chart sez and what mine measured across a loaded round are different things. Maybe my lot was out of spec. Mebbe they changed spec? Dunno. Just giving my experience fwiw.

I can't speak on 6mm Peterson, but I was impressed with their 7mm.

Well I've already turned them now and didn't make any notes. I can tell you I hate turning brass and wouldn't have unless I felt like I had to. I'm thinking it was about 271, but I don't trust this old man's memory too much. Sorry not to be more help.

And I'm not running down the brass at all. I just wouldn't get a reamer ground without having some in hand.

Yes, they are. . . which makes the point about variances one can find from lot to lot for neck thicknesses. Even for Lapua brass, I've experienced variances like that and one of the reasons I like to turn my necks even for my no-turn chambers.

All my Lapua is pretty much the same. Nothing like those swings.

Even the big 3 manufacturers are all over the place on neck wall thickness. Either buy 500 pieces of brass and have JGS make a Reamer or go with a 273 for BR and be sure..

I have run the 6br peterson brass along side lapua and they perform excellent in a .272 no turn reamer cut barrel. Reamer print pdf file is attached below.
