6br or 6 dasher

Right guys had a 6br for a few years now thinking about going to the dasher its for 1000 br and a little fclass is it worth the effort to go too a dasher over the good old 6br ?

I have shot just about all the 6mm Wildcats in F class mid & long range over the last decade. The one factor I like best about the Dasher is that it is very forgiving on off call shots. What I mean about that is when I break a shot and go "oh crap" more often than not it turns out to be no worse than a ten and is frequently an x. The down side is case prep soon to be mitigated with the production of Dasher brass.
YEMV.

Jacko I just got rid of all my dasher gear and gone to straight 6br. Was sick of all the forming and turning and such. I found my dasher accurate around 2980fps and the straight BR can be run over 2900 so I saw no need to mess around. Also with the dasher with that short neck and pushing bullets over 3000fps I ate a throat out of a krieger barrel pretty darn quick. 500-600 rounds. That was with 2206H and 105 hybrids. Accurate but a few mates did the same with the same powder so we changed up to a slower powder. 2209 worked but just was no where near as tight.

In contrast Ive just done up a new maddco in 6BR. So far it looks like 30.4gr RL15 is my charge to work with but I will test 2208 as soon as im out of RL15. Just got seating depth to test and should get a crack at 400m with it this weekend.

Yeh mate he did. For what its worth, I was happy with the f class performance but in 1000ydBR (and by the time I had run out of my good batch of bergers and gave away the 2206H as it was eating throats) I couldnt get much better than 8 inches in LG. At a 500m fly shoot I got flogged by a bloke shooting a straight 6BR and it was easy to see that it just wasnt working as it should have. Im in the process of building a new 7mm for f class and HG so will play with the little BR for LG for a while.

I'd say "Hell, yes!"....

Fireforming is simple and accurate enough for mid-range matches.

The 105Hybrids at 3,080 or so are excellent at 1K (F-Class anyway).

Get a no-turn neck and your case prep is the same as any other.

I've gotten around 1,300 rounds before holding the X-ring became difficult.

By1983,

The Dasher will totally dominate at 1000 yds. Just check the record books. A 6 BR at 2900 will destroy the best of brass in short order. Only 80 fps. between BR and Dasher, not in my experience. More like 200 fps.

A dasher shoot like a 6 BR but 150 FPS faster. Time in the air the reason I like the Dasher . Larry

Hi Paul

I understand where your coming from, but I was losing cases in a dasher at 3030fps as well. Had to run it back below 3000 to get the best accuracy and case life too. My new BR is doing fine just over 2900 and not losing primer pockets 30.4gr RL15 and 105 JLK's. The hassle in forming and turning for the chamber (my reamer was a tight neck) just wasnt worth the 80fps. I cant argue with the records in the US, here they belong to bigger guns. My local range hasnt been calm enough for the dasher to be able to perform. The heavier calibers seem to hold better vertical in headwinds. Maybe the straight BR is a step backwards, but Im taking my chances with a bigger caliber in competition, The 6 is just a fun gun that might kick some big gun ass if the conditions are right.
