6br or 30br

Being new to this forum this topic has been probably beaten to death . But I will still ask the question, which is better ? I`m looking at getting a gun built and I`m leaning heavy on these two choices . The 6 is easier to load on account you get the brass and there is no necking up, but the 30 is good at line cutters in shoot to score .Please be gentle in your replies . Thanks in advance

Sorry I was not specific I was thinking about shooting in custom class at 100-300 yds in the local bench and precision shoots. Thanks for such a quick reply

They both group very good, same brass. Bullets for the 3BR cost more and it recoils more. The 30 is easier to tune and is also good for score.

Can't go wrong either way. If your going strictly for Group, then I would go with a 6, if you shoot for score then the 30BR. Just to be different, go with the 30.

Well i don`t know about the 6br grouping better my 30br groups pretty dam good and i will try to prove that at a Super Shoot in September there will be at least 2 shooter, Myself and Tony that will be useing our 30BRs may just buck the wind a little better but still all comes down to reading the conditions.
Go with the 30BR, Sure it takes a little work prepareing cases but then its all easy.
I am useing a PAC-Nor 5 groove and could not ask for a better barrel am presently getting a permit to import a few more barrels 30cal and 7 mm.

If it was strictly comp I might go with the 30BR if you don't mind prepping brass. If for shooting past 300yds I'd definitely go with the 6BR for from what I have observed the 30BR kinda dies after 300.

I don't have a horse in this race but let me say this to you, "Look out Kav, you may have busted open a hornets nest!";);)

For Score the 30 BR is the choice. Because the accuracy is there for the 1 shot wonder game and the larger diameter bullet will catch a line or X more often than a 6.

KAV,
So you reckon the 30BR kind of dies after 300 do you.
Well this is the kind of stuff i ran into when looking at shooting 500m,550 yard) events here in Australia and at my first major comp proved them wrong with smallest group at 500m 1.75" Higest score on a single target and won the light gun.
So i don`t know where you get the idea they die after 300.

I was starting to think maybe by posting this question I had ruffled some feathers because no one was touching it . This will be truely be my first rifle apart from my cva rifle,I am primarily a archer so that is why I posted the question . I will still have time to make my decision for when I went to a local range some of the more experienced shooters advised me to get a gun and shoot the heck out of the barrel learning wind, loading and such . Then get the new barrel and I will not be burning out a barrel trying to learn .

Well that's another point for the 30BR you can shoot thousands of rounds through it and still shoot accurate.
Maybe someone can fill in the blanks of this snippet i found.
Reports from Union County Pennsylvania say Dean Breeden and Harley Baker finished first and second at the end of the 200 yd stage in HV at the IBS 200-300 Nationals today with their 30 BR's.
Does anyone have an update on this and is it true one of the rifles had over 8,000 rnds through it.

Actually Aussie Bob, that match was held a few weeks back and both Dean and Harley shot so well the second day that they finished 1st and 2nd in the HV grand agg. Now as far as Dean's barrel having 8000 rds. through it, I heard the same thing but I dont know if it is true. Everyrthing I've heard indicates that the 30 is very easy on barrels. I'm starting to put one together for a score gun but who knows, maybe it will become a group gun as well.

Well mine has now had 800 rnds through it and is performing very well will see just how good i can drive it in September.
I have shot in our club Shoots here and shot best groups each time but as yet not shot in a an open comp so September will see as the Super Shoot attracts the top shooters.Would love to have my Light gun ready but i think that would be asking a bit much seeing as how the barrel hasn`t been ordered yet still waiting on a permit to import.
