6BR Neck Sizer Die Bushing

I'm doing my fist 6BR on a Savage target action with a Krieger barrel. This is my first bench gun. I'm fixing to order a set of Redding dies, brass, ect. But I'm not sure what size bushing to get. My rifle isn't going to be ready for about a month or so. And it will have a .272 neck. and I will be using new Lupua brass. I'm just trying to get everything ordered in one order and not wait until I get this in and then mic this and order more stuff. If i need to that fine. But I figured someone has already been threw this. If y'all could give some advice I'll appreciate it.

Don't know what bullets you plan on using but order a .268 and a .269 bushing. That should cover most of them. Hog

It'll be the blue box. I'm ordering brass at the same time as everything else. has anybody took a mic and measured the neck of a 6BR with Lupua brass? Just curious.

And thanks for all y'alls help.

Using the new blue box 6BR brass my loaded rounds measure .267. Dedending on the amount of neck tension you want will determine the proper bushing size. I am using .266, and with H4895 that has given me very good results. You normally go .001-.002 less than a loaded round.

Blue Box brass gives me a loaded neck OD of .2675-.2680 - I use a .266" bushing in Whidden's DL die. Unloaded necks are .266" by my measure.

depends on the reamer you chamber your shilen with. Since Lapua changed to the blue box, the standard PT&G reamer neck is .2705. My smith didn't know about the changeover a couple of years ago and used his .272 neck reamer on a job for one of my customers. It works fine (deadly accurate). The only downside is the extra thou and a half of resizing stress on the neck with each firing. I doubt it will significantly affect brass life, but it might some.
