6BR Load development - too weak???

Well I'm in the process of load work up with the new F-Class 6BR. In .3grn increments I started at 29.4 and went to 31.1 grns. Using Varget with Fed 205 primers stuffed in Lapua brass shooting 107grn SMK's ten thou off the lands.

I've found with the first go around that the 29.7 and 30.0 loads produce groups in the .3's, but is this enough umph? Has very little pressure signs at 31.1grns, minor flattened primers with very minor cratering. The 29.7grn is averaging 2823fps and the 30.0grn load is averaging 2837fps.

I loaded up ten rounds for both loads and I'm going to go out and do some more testing to insure the groups are what they are. but I am concerned that the load is a little weak....thoughts?

I shoot 1000 yards with my 6mmBR using 3- grains of Varget and a 107 grain SMK. So, yes you have a load with enough "umph".

I run them where they shoot best. The upper load may cause you problems when it gets hot,31.1 gr). If you want a little more speed try RL15 powder. My 6BR will run just over 2900 F/S with RL15. Also try CCI BR4 primers.

Don't worry about you speed, if it shoots good.

You can all ways dial in more elevation. But you cant dial in a smaller group! Just shoot it at the speed it likes to be shot at.

Gunman, have you tried the 105grn Lapua Scenar? This is an awesome bullet, yes they are more expensive then the Bergers or the Sierras, but they are worth the extra $$$. My 6BR with a Bartlien 28", 1-8 twist, .5R, 236 bore barrel shot a .172 group at a 100 yards before I even started doing load development. The velocity with 30.5grns of Varget, CCI 450 Primers, 105grn Scenar and Lapua brass was 2910fps. I would try this load, MAKE SURE TO WORK UP TO IT!. I was showing no pressure signs at all with this load. I am going to keep working up and see if I can get more velocity and accuracy with the Varget. But I am pretty happy with 2910fps and the accuracy I got the first time out with the 30.5 load.

Remember, WORK UP TO THE LOAD I MENTIONED.
