6BR Freebore Spec

Hi All
Give me some advise here please.
I am having a 6BR built, using a 1.86Twist Pacnor Barrel.
With the given twist, I want to give the VLD's a go, 105's and 95's. Would obviously have to see what it likes better. But...I would also like to shoot the lighter bullets. What would be an advisable free bore spec on this rig?

LarryK40c,

that's what I have been told. A .90 to .100 lead is best for shooting the longer bullets and this type of lead will still allow you to shoot bullets from 65grn on up to 107grn. I went with a .100 lead for my 6BR with the intention on shooting 80 to 105grn bullets. I am going to be shooting the 87grn V-Max and the 105grn A-Max, Berger VLD, and Lapua Scenar. The gunsmith told me the .100 lead would be just right. Anyhow, I hope this info helps BOOTLACEB.

.90-.110 freebore,as Kiff measures it) is ideal for MOST of the longer bullets.

The 95gr Berger VLD has a radically short shank for its length. You'll find, even with a .080 freebore, there won't be much bearing surface in the neck if you seat the bullet into the rifling.

This should not dissuade you from going with a .100 or so freebore--just be aware a shorter freebore will fit the Berger 95s better.

Thanx Gents. I will use the .100 as advised.

Ps: Does anyone know what is happening to Forster lately?? I have on back order now since MAY a set of Dies.!!! What is the problem there? Anyone know?
Cheers
Bruce
