6BR Chamber

After several days of searching every post I could find on 6br freebore, I think I have settled on a chamber that will work for my purpose.

I know most everyone's opinion will vary on the subject, mostly depending on purpose and bullet. I currently use a 30br with 0fb and bave had excellent results but quickly found out that using mid weight bullets for the 6 needed between 40 and 60k fb.

So, the purpose for the 6br will be 1 to 300 vfs using the 80 to 88gr berger fb with a 1-10 or 1-12 twist. I am still undecided if the 1 in 12 will be fine with the 88 HBC bergers and if anyone can verify go or no go on the 12 tw it would be greatly appreciated as that is what I would prefer. I think I am wanting 40k fb but would need verification as to accept ability for the bullets and intended use.

Thanks for the site as it has provided countless hours of enlightenment.

Thanks .. jp

OP,,I woud yuse .080" FB with those bullets,,,they bothe have long bearing surfaces,,,,and it will work with 68's and 105" ,,,almost ideal for a BR,,,,,Daser has a short neck and is difrernt,,,,Roger

Thanks Piper. Thats the type of info i need.

I have some 88's in hand and they are longer than expected but i wasnt sure if the 80's were long as well.

Can you tell me, with .080 fb, will that leave plenty in the neck for room to grow?

yes,,,they are two of the "longest" seating bullets that you will ever use,,,aprox ....220 in the neck when jammed and there is aprox .300" of useable neck length before you run into the donut area ,,,,you will wear the bbl out before you cant seat these or 105 class bullets in a 6mmBR,,,,and with this FB the average 65-68gr (Bart-Euber-Berger ) will seat ~.125" when jammed and this is plenty,,,,Roger

my berger 68 grain shoot a lot better with a jump...Would have to check the book to tell you exactly what it is..They fly all over when jamed....just saying 8)

My new reamer made by Dave Kiff at PTG has .125" freebore. Basically, Dave made the point that being a little longer doesn't hurt, but being shorter does...

I only shoot 80-108s.
