6br bullet

how much difference is there in the berger 6mm 105 vld match target and 105 vld match hunting?

The only difference I have found is if they blow-up or not in an individual gun or barrel. I never blew up any of the old-style thin-jacketed 6mm 105gr VLD bullets (now called Hunting) in my 6mmBR, but one of my 284 Shehane barrels has blown up a number of 180gr 7mm VLD bullets with the thin jackets. The same barrel and load doesn't seem to have problems with the thick-jacket Target bullets. I believe that Berger went to the thicker jackets because some people were having problems with bullets that failed to reach the target. There were many threads here devoted to the subject a couple of years ago and the problems seemed to occur most often shooting the heavier bullets at high velocities in fast-twist barrels. My 6mm BR barrel is a 1:8 twist and I shot the thin-jacketed 105 VLD at just under 2900 fps without difficulties.
