6br body die question

What’s everyone’s though on using the body die the bump the shoulder back every reload/firing as opposed to once you start getting a “sticky” bolt.

My brass has 2 firings on it and my process as of now is to use a Redding neck die and then set the shoulder back 2-3thou every firing. Doing this to insure consistency im brass and chamberkng.

Anyone have any input on if I may be overworking the brass. I just picked up a benchsource and will be using it once it’s setup. I know it may be preference but I’d still like to hear what some more experienced shooters than myself have to say.

It is best practice to do the same thing every time so yes you should size the body as well as the neck. Measure the diameter of your brass before and after resizing to see how much the die is working it. Take a measurements at the shoulder/body junction as well as at .200 above the bottom. If it is only being squeezed a few thousandths then I would not worry about it. If it is much more than that you might want to send a few pieces of fired brass to Whidden to have a die made that will be mated to your chamber at a reasonable price.

I don't think you should be bumping the shoulder back until you start to feel some resistance closing the bolt. Otherwise, how would you know your brass has fully expanded to your chamber?

I get less run out with a body and Collet combination than I do a bushing die. I have tested this many times and always get the same result. I have also tested the two methods on target several times and the body Collet combination has been has been more accurate.

The extra step is worth it to me. The only time I use bushing dies now is if there are donuts and I cannot get the mandrel of the Lee collet die past them without inside reaming.
