My 6.5 creedmoor barrel is about 1/4th of its barrel life, and I would like to shoot 6br next. I read somewhere that you're able to use the same hardware and just replace the barrel. I would like to confirm here before I blow up my rifle. Thank you.

This Rem700 started its life as a 308win. It can be done with relative ease. I spun on a 6br Preferred Barrel Blank Remage and one of their barrel nuts. Criterion is another option. It takes a little more work than a savage barrel swap and needs a few tweaks to run perfect but it makes for a good project. 20210402_103749.jpg

Pretty sure your 700 will be a short action running the 65creed, if that’s the case the action will run the BR no problem...

Would the bolt face for the 6.5 creed work or need to be replaced?

Yup, those both use the 12.01mm (0.473") bolt face standard.

That said, do pay attention to magazine feed issues with a BR style case. These cases are kind of stubby and getting them to feed can be a little hit and miss. You might be able to just get some insight by trying some dummy rounds in your rig up front.

Take Region Rats advice, make up some dummy rounds and try them in that SA. My attempt at a 6br resulted in lots of frustration, after trying several modifications, to get it to feed from the mag.. If I do it again it would be with the single feed magazine conversion.

OR,. Build,.. a NO Drama, 6XC !
Shoots GREAT and Feeds even the longer / heavier Bullets, PERFECTLY from, a Rem 700 Short action !

I changed my R700 308 barrel to a 6BR RemAge barrel obtained from UrbanRifleman. Quite pleased with the result, despite it being not much more than an inexpensive experiment. Can't beat a chambered, ready-to-install barrel for under $250 (you will also need a barrel nut though.)

MrBig's suggestion about bushing the firing pin hole is a good one as well.
