6br barrel decisions

I've been shooting a 30" pac-nor, 14 twist, three groove, super match stailess steel 6br. barrel. The barrel shoots excellent. I'm staying with the same basic thing.
Originally, I bought the 30" so I could set it back later if I wanted. Probably has 2000 rounds thru it. Still shoots like magic. I've come up with the cash to do another.Keep in mind I'm new to this but addicted really bad. In 4 months this barrel will have anoher 2000 rounds thru it.
"How" good is setting back and re-crowning? Like new?

Not like new, but close to it and definitely worth the effort if the barrel is a shooter. There is always some residual erosion in front of the throat that will not bet removed with a set-back and re-chamber. I set back and re-chambered a 6.5-284 barrel that was near done to 260AI as an experiment, and it is still shooting. Barrel life could be extended another 2000 rounds or so on a 6mmBR, my estimate. That's a lot of prairie dogs!

Cheers,

O.K. Thanks fellas. I'm leanin' really hard towards getting a 22br. barrel set for short range and still re-doing the 6br. barrel once the 22br is operational. I've been interested in that 22br. from day one. tootalloutdoors
