6BR assistance needed 25', 1-8'

I have a Brux take-off 6mm, 1-8', that is currently a 6xc, and is finished at 25 1/2'. My math shows that in order to freshen up the chamber in 6BR I need to cut around .330',probably do around .450' to make sure I remove the throat completely)...

Should be able to finish with about a 25' of barrel length. Would I be better off going with a Dasher/BRX to get more powder to boost velocity over the barrel length? I have all three reamers; 6BR, 6BRX, and a 6 Dasher!

What can I expect with a 25'? Looking to shoot 600yd BR, and I am in no way concerned about being at the top of the list! Just looking for a performer that I can have some fun with...when the barrel is toast, I will opt for a 28-30' finished...I do know that Mike Davis shot a 600yd BR record with a Brux 26' 6BRX

*I have a new Brux 32' 6mm, 1-8' sitting in the corner but it is reserved for my Whitley 6mmSuperX...It will be going onto a LPRB Savage Target action and Savage BR laminated stock.

Thanks in advance!

I have an eight twist Krieg at 25',Dasher) that I can get 3k with no prob shoots well at 300 but thats the longest range I have access to rite now. HTH

Thanks Bkmilw____'eight twist Krieg at 25',Dasher) that I can get 3k with no prob shoots well at 300' That is what I was looking for.

Are you shooting 105, 107 or 108's?

More velocity doesn't mean the accuracy will be there too.
You may find the accuracy node at a 'lower' velocity for the Dasher, but operating at less pressure will probably give you more barrel life than a 6BR busting at the seams.
Another option would be to chamber it in 6BR first, than freshen it later with the Dasher reamer.
My choice would be a Dasher from the start. After you shoot the good out of it, turn it into a fireform barrel.
Also, change your mindset on competing. I compete to win, not to take up space.

Alf,

that is so TRUE!

I just love shooting and learning the wind game at long range, because it improves my game taking skills. If I shoot this rifle at Butner though I am going up against some of the finest shooters in the country! Just take a look at NSSC.com and check out the record holders and you will see a list of names some of which I am sure you know ,Charles Ballard/Nik Taylor to name a few- they just shot the 2008 F-class nat'ls in your neck of the woods). Then there is Kent Reeeves, Norm Crawford, Pete LeBurge, Jeff Roarer, AC Webster, and many more. National/International competitors, champions, US Palma Team shooters/coaches and the like. It is an honor to lay on the line with them and try to keep my rounds in the center of the black. If and when I get to sit and look through a spotting scope while listening to any of them while they are coaching I am all ears. I have one year in the f-class game...getting ready to try my hand at 600BR...

I give it my best and leave the frusrations of dropping points at home.
