6BR and the 110smk load data

Is anybody using a straight 6BR with the 110smk? I am interested in hearing the load you’re using. I’ve heard decent speeds of close to 2900 can be achieved.

Might be interesting to know the difference in bearing length between the 107SMK and the 110SMK. Anyone have any data to share?

I'm getting about .400 with the 107 and .430 with the 110.

The 105 Hornady has more bearing surface than the 110 SMK by quite a bit.

I think that is too optimistic. I am getting 2900 with 100smk with a Dasher and a peppy load. I think you would trash your brass pretty quickly. I think the 90-107gr is better for a BR, if you want to shoot a 110 or DTAC try a wildcat (Dasher/BRX/BRA).

There are several BR's running 110 smk's close to 2900 in the PRS circuit. That said most end up switching to the 105 hybrid, 107 smk or 108 eld. Do not try to chase velocity with a BR. Just settle with something that shoots well. Anything around or above 2800 will work just fine. If you're shooting a BR learn to read wind instead of trying to "cheat" it with velocity and BC. You'll be a better shooter in the long run. I'm guessing you're interested in PRS, BR is a great cartridge for it, but you first need to forget about velocity. Its nothing more than a number on the elevation turret. All bullets mentioned have a pretty good BC and will be within .1-.2 of everyones wind calls at 1000 yards shooting the faster stuff like dashers, 6 creeds, etc. As others have mentioned 30 grains of Varget is pretty much the go to load for the BR. You may start around 29 with 4166 and work up to 30, but if it shoots and the SD/ES numbers are good run it.

You’re right. A bit has changed since I posted this, I was shooting 110s in my 6x47 and had a bunch on hand, so I was looking for load info to shoot them in my 6BR. However, I couldn’t end up getting them to shoot and have moved back to 105 hybrids, which I will run now in both my 6BR and 6x47. I’m not too worried about wind, I can read it decently, the BC is nice but it’s not a deal breaker.

Often my local club series will have stages out to 1100-1200. I just wanted to make sure I had enough speed out there.

With the 105/107's, still right around 30 or just a hair less? I'm in the middle of building a 6BR, 1:7 and have a box of 110's on hand to try but all I'm reading is that the 105/107's may be the better choice.

Mine is just a plinker.
