6br accuracy

Hi guys just a quick question I'm shooting a savage M12 lrpn in 6br. Its shooting in the mid .4's 5 shot groups with lapua 90g factory ammo.off a bipod. Is this good for this gun? All groups were shot at 100yds and its a 1-8 twist.

That is very good for a factory gun, off bipod, with that ammo. You might get into the 3s with a custom barrel and a full benchrest set-up, but maybe not. I tell people the 6BR factory ammo should do 1/2 MOA in a good gun.

You may get spoiled by the factory ammo ... meaning that once you handload, you won't see a huge gain in accuracy. Sounds like you have a good barrel on your Savage.

You bet that's good, considering the bipod, just switching to a front rest and rear bag should shrink them a little, it does with me. Factory Savage barrels can shoot.
Mike.

Thanks Guys ! I was useing a rear bag with the bipod. Also I've got 40 rounds on the barrel. It was fouling really bad at first but has claimed down quite a bit. The last 5 shot group I shot had very little fouling. I just want to say that you guys and this site are really great!!!!!!!!!
