6BR 55-70gr POWDER CHOICE

Nice! Any data with the heavier bullets?

Alex Wheeler chambered a 6BRA in a 9 twist for me several years ago that was going to be my groundhog gun with light bullets. He suggested l try H322 and he was spot on as l am yet to find a more accurate powder in my rifle.

Do you have any load data and velocity data with LT32? I have seen people talk about it in 6BR but haven’t seen many reports on velocity with it using 55-65s. Thanks

28.5 LT-32 was giving me (this is from memory) about 3200 with the 64 columns. GRT says a tick over 40K psi.

GRT says 31.7 should be close to a node, and run in the low 34xx range, with 56K psi. I hit 3400 with something; don't recall what load it was. I prefer running a little further away from max.

Edit: Tried the 31.7: using freshly annealed brass had quite a bit drag on bolt open (no brass marks, and very slight primer flattening - not really any other pressure signs.) Still, I think I'm going to back down to what should be the next node in the 30 - 30.5 range.

31.7gn ran at 3634fps
30.5 gn ran at 3522
30 ran 3471

All of these put 5 shots smaller than a quarter inch, but the samples were only a couple groups each.

I've been watching this thread for a bit; I had some 65 V Max given to me by brother and some CFE 223 left over from loading my last batch of 5.56. This thread along with a few 6 BR Lapua cases I came across on GB got me to thinking. Why not burn all that stuff. I hate to have partial canisters of powder and bullets laying around. This is my coyote rifle, and its only 3 shots, but I'm still pretty happy with it. Of course, this load is safe only in MY rifle. Work up with the usual methods. Hope this helps.

I am wanting to put together a 6BR to shoot 55-70g bullets and I plan to go with a 24" barrel. I have ran some numbers in Gordon's reloading tool and have an idea of what powders to use, but I have some questions. Powder is still difficult to come by, but I can get Benchmark, N133, N135, and H335 . My only concern with these is the case fill and complete powder burn. According to Gordon's case fill is in the 100-105% with all of these powders, except H335, with the 55-70gr bullets. Also, Gordon's claims H335 and Benchmark are only 97-99% burned in a 24" barrel. I understand this is just software, but I would prefer to have 100% burn. I also don't want to run into a problem with a heavy compressed load. I'd like some real world experience with these powders and bullets and if they work well together without crunching powder too badly or not getting consistency from not fully burning. Any other advice or opinions on what powder to try would be appreciated as well. I would love to get some H322 or H4895 as they seem to offer excellent velocities, case fill, complete burn, and they're temp stable for whatever that's worth. Thanks!
I have been shooting a 6BR for varmints for about ten years or more. 14 twist Krieger barrel. I have tried a lot of powders. Shoot mostly Hornady 58 gr VMax. Stocking up on 60 gr Sierra Varminter it is an exceptionally accurate bullet. Use nothing but 33.3 gr of 8208 now. H322 is good. Varget is good but less speed. Never looked at fill ratios. Group size is all I care about. Will look at my records and see what other powders I tried.
