6br 14 twist bullet choices

Getting geared up for PDoggin. I have a 14 twist barrel that I used the 58gr Vmax in last year. Results were good but like always looking for something better. So before I order more bullets wanted to ask you guys is there something better out there for the 14 twist.

Thanks in advance

I have 13.5 twist in my 6BR and I use the 68gr Berger match and it shoots .1 groups

it's quite cold where I live so a 14 twist in a warmer place should do the same.

I think the Berger 68gr is the best match bullet for 6BR in 13-14 twist.

No need to change bullets for dogs. The 58 Vmax is the best I have used out of several 14 twist 6BRs for that same intended purpose.

I use the 65 grn. V-Max in my 1 in 14" Hart with incredible accuracy and results. I use a rather brish charge of Varget with CCI 450 primers to get around 3400 ft/s. The 65 grn. V-Maxes perform as well as the custom bullets.

55 Noslers/58 Vmax/65 Vmax/70 Noslers should all work with the 14 twist...

You just have to find what works BEST..... ;D

Why not the 80 grain Nosler? I was eyeing those in the store... Of course you can get the Bergers 80 varmint for the same price.

If you've got a shooting buddy that has a few 80 grain bullets to spare, you might try firing some of those before buying. I think you'll find the 1:12" twist is more suited to 80 grain pills.

I asked about this in the 6br forum. I was planning to get a 13.5 twist barrel. I was told the 80 s will shoot fine.

They 70 grain Noslers will or might work? I am looking for a little better wind bucking ability at long range. I dont wanna fool with a bullet that is on the edge of stabilizing.

Thanks Corey

Thanks Corey

The 75 v max is listed in the site 's pet loads. I bet those are cheap too...

I once tried a few 80gn Bergers in my 14 twist 6BR. None ever made it to the target at 100yds.
Were they stabilized and shooting to a radical different POI or did they tumble off? Can't really say myself but I would'nt put money on them performing well ;)

WS2 coated 58 V-Max was my first accurate load in the 6. Lit off by a hefty amount of Benchmark.
Used that load at 200yd egg shoots a couple times. Dem little buggers let out a healthy THWACK when they hit an egg. Even with ten benches of shooters firing away and hearing protection I knew when I hit the egg. THWACK. Vaporised!!
Sure the 68 match bullets are more accurate but they definately lack the theatrics.....on eggs at least.

I've always found the 75gr Vmax pushed by H322 very hard to beat in the dog towns out to around 500 to 600 yds. Any farther then that is 105 Amax territory and your twist most likely won't stabilize anything heavier then 75gr bullets.

What is your free bore? I also like the 66gr Hi BC bullets. My free bore on my 6BR is really short, so i dont have any issues. I sure wish Berger would make another run of these bullets. I shoot them out to 300 yards in a small f-class comp we have locally and they perform extreamly well. matter a fact i have never lost this shoot while shooting these bullets. Lee
