I have a 28' 6BR,1:8 twist) that I want to try some 80 Bergers for a 100 yd match tomorrow. I got a little range time this morning and I tried Varget and N-135 with 80 Bergers. Here are my results.
80 Bergers seated 0.010' into the lands. All 5 shot groups
31.5 gr Varget -3107 fps, H-0.231, V-0.421, group 0.409
31.8 gr Varget - 3131 fps, H-0.304, V-0.541, group 0.541
32.1 gr Varget - 3179 fps, H 0.701, V-0.468, group 0.839
31.2 gr N-135 - 3248 fps, H-0.628, V-0.941, group 0.965
31.5 gr N-135 - 3288 fps, H-0.325, V-0.658, group 0.702
The last 3 groups were shot with a 10-20 mph variable headwind switching from 3:00 to 9:00. The range is in a pit and the wind whips in different directions from the sides. I was shooting with the flags at 11:00 to 1:00 but the wind speed varied more than I thought at the end. I think a lot of the vertical was due to wind and my sucky reading skills. N135 gave single digit std dev on both loads. The 31.5 gr was hot and flatten the primers a little.
Any one got experience with the 80 Bergers? Were are the nodes, fps)? I am getting better groups with my 95 Bergers but I just want to try something different.
Thanks for any tips, tiny
