6ARC hornady vs starline

Which brass is better? A simple Honrnady or Starline answer please or other (name).

Dont know specifically about the 6 ARC brass from Starline ( haven't snagged any yet) , have used lots of it for .223, 9mm, 40 sw. Always great brass, never a problem. On about 5 or 6 times reloading Hornady 6 ARC brass right now, seems to me it is softer material. I will be waiting for Starline to open up backorders.

As a side note had a chance to anneal some 338 La Pua brass sat with a Amp Annealer, tested LaPua brass and some Hornady brass. Burn down time on Hornady is significantly quicker.

Apples to oranges I know, but still interesting.

Hope this helps.!

Seeing as the Starline just came out the other day might not be many with it yet. Lol Give it a month or so. I use Hornady in other calibers and it’s always worked well in my match rifles. My ARC barrel is getting delivered today and will shoot a few hundred factory Hornady loads through it and keep the brass and see how it does.

The Starline has been out for a while for a Grendel. I know a guy that shot some and he said it measured very well but I don't think he's shot it much, so I don't know about brass life. This is in a bolt gun and considerably higher pressures than AR15 limits. I'll check with him when I think to. Others I've spoken with that have tried it did NOT have good life at those pressures but said it was better than the Hornady in every regard. My feeling is that the Starline is probably fine at AR15 pressures but not at full on bolt gun loads, for very long anyway.

From what I've heard, it'll be at least a year before they run another batch. I heard that before it was made official but I think it is on their website as well. I'm speaking of Lapua 6.5 Grendel brass.

Lapua is preffered ....But I'd like to use the rifle before then... It's my fault for not planning better I know. The reamer is made for reformed Lapua 6.5 grendel brass. I just wanted something to use till I get some.

I think you're not alone, by a long way. I was fortunate to have stocked up on the last batch brought in. I was told when to be looking for it by the same person that told me it'd be a year or more before more was run. He was right about both, before the official announcement. I'm glad I listened or I'd be in the same boat with you. I've not tried it but I'd bet you can make it from 6PPC brass. Bruno's is advertising Norma either in stock or accepting backorders...fwiw.
I have made 6 Grendel brass from 220 Russian. It ends up a bit short but it shot fine. I think it'd be easier to make the ARC from it or the Norma ppc brass than the Grendel brass. As for it being short overall, I think it'd be just fine as long as you stay ahead of any carbon ring development. It may not even be an issue at all for the Norma brass becoming the ARC. I'd try it, for sure. It's not cheap and not quite Lapua but is the next best brass out there.
