69 Sierra TMK for coyotes ?

Don't know why it wouldn't. I have used the standard match king on quite a few coyotes that never complained about it. I would imagine the tipped version would be a bit more expansive / better.

Bolt gun, I would run 55's.

In my 223 Rem 700 sps stainless, a few of us are running 55g Nosler ballistic tips at 3450, with a heavy charge of benchmark and cci 450s put the bullets in small groups.

It's an excellent bullet at that velocity. One of my calling partners has killed at least 100/year for the last several years with that bullet. There's a lot of guessing going on here, but I can tell you first hand that it will get the job done.

No actuall experience with this particular bullet, but I see no reason it would not be excellent. Plastic tipped bullets in general expand perfectly on thin skinned game. I may have to try some myself.

Speed is a great killer of coyotes. The hydrostatic shock breaks the diaphragm, arteries, etc. We killed a good number of coyotes with 50g Sierra Spt and 50g ballistic tips with a MV of 3600(N133/BR-4s) out of bolt guns. Even the old Sierra 45g Spt at 3700 did a great job, so did the 40g Nosler ballistic tip at 3800 out of the Rem 700s, an incredible bullet.

A coyote can take a lot, and bullet speed hedges your bet.

The heavier your bullet, the more rainbow your trajectory is. A low hit on a coyote will put him on the ground, he will figure out he is not dead, and then he is gone in an instant.

I am into one-shot kills, not hosing them down.

10x, try some 53g V max on coyotes. Depending on your barrel length, a 26" with N135(BR-4) will be 3700. The bc and the velocity of the 53's hedge your bets on shots between 275-350 where the trajectory starts to drop like a horseshoe.

I'm having a 22" barrel on the rifle to handle my can.
This will be a truck rifle. Where 400-600 yards common.
Might try some of the 62 gr Hornady bullets.

10X, you are going to need BC for that distance. Consider a 72-73g Berger as those J4 Jackets open up. It is fun playing with various bullets. 600 is a poke.

I have only had to kill a hand full of coyotes at 400-450 yards in my life due to the hunting terrain where I hunted. Where those distances increase, a 22-243 AI would be most excellent with 75s at 3550 in a 22".
I built a 22-243 AI on a Hart 23", 14 Twist and I shoot the 60g Sierra at 4000 fps into tiny bug holes.

Try those 69g TMK, use what you have. Then re-invent the wheel if you have to. Coyote hunters usually have a flock of different rifles and calibers, and the 22 Creed with 69s would be an easy upgrade or a 22/250 AI throated properly. Criterion probably has pre fits in 8T in 22 Creed in stock.

I hope to make some 22-243 AI brass from the Steel Head 277 Sig Fury brass later on this year, will be interesting. I want to shoot the 80g at some good speed, do it all kind of deal for coyotes to deer.

If those shots are going to be 400 to 600 yards from a 223, then the TMK 69 or TMK 77 is a better starting point. It doesn't take much error in your wind call to be the difference between dumping them versus having them run off at that distance, so you will want the BC in your favor.

I'd go with a bit lighter bullet for better velocity - as the hydrostatic shock is a lot of what knocks those yotes down. I like the 50 V-Max a lot and the 55 Blitz King, though the best bullet I've ever tried on coyotes is the 50 grain Barnes Varmint Grenade. I don't keep the hides - so I'm not worried about hide damage. A solid body shot, even in non-vital area knocks them down. That helps a lot when they are on the run after having whacked his partner. If you have a fast enough twist and want the heavier bullet, you could try the 62 ELD-VT. In my .22 Nosler (at about 3,000 fps), it is devastating and accurate and very explosive.
