68gr hornady HPBT

Does anyone know if the 68gr hornady HPBT match will stabilise in a 1:10 twist doing approx 3350fps at the muzzle?

I currently use 69gr HPBT nosler custom competition projectiles which shoot great, but i have heard the 68 gr hornadys are longer and have a better BC.

Anyone have any experiences with these?

Yes...you can shoot reliably up to and including 100 gr SBT's with a 10" twist....Roger
ooopsss ..thank you Darell....the 10 twist foold me,preetty eazy to do)

I think you'll are talking about two different calibers. Brad is talking about 223 and I think Roger is talking about 6br.
I shot the 68gr hpbt in a one in nine twist and they stablized fine. I'm not sure about the 1-10. someone else will know for sure.

Cheers guys

If anyone has the length of the 68gr bullet that they can post it up, so i can run it on my ballistics calculator to see if it will stabilise. Ive given it an estimate and if its much longer than 0.900 then its going to be very close to not being fully stabilised.

Its being shot out of a 22BRX with lapua brass, CCI BR primers and 31.8gr of varget. 27 inch lilja barrel 1:10 twist. Currently chronied at 3383fps avg 5 shots.

Brad

I measured a few and they are about .917 inches.

My 22-250 with a 1-12 shoots the 69 SMK very well, but will not even get on the paper with a 68 Hornady.

Anyone have the length on the 75 and 80 grain Amaxs? I'm thinking about doing a fast twist 22-250AI.

I've shot them in my .220 Swift AI with a 1-10 twist and they shot very well at 100 yard but not quite what I wanted at 300 yrd. Don't know if the twist is an issue but I'm thinking it may be. John.

22 caliber A-Max lengths, this is randomly picking 5 out of each box

75 gr avg=1.106', longest was 1.109'

80 gr avg=1.154', longest was 1.163'

I have a 15 inch custom 221 fireball T/C bbl. 1in8 twist it stabilizes 80gr bullet's excellent. 14.5gr's of imr4198 fed. sm. rifle 20off land's shoot's 1 to 1.5 inch at 200 meter's.Also I have a friend who has the same bbl. in a 1in7 twist that shoot's 90gr's just as well.So if you want to know how well a fast twist 22 bbl.can shoot look up mike at ottllc.com PS 68gr hornaday's are tack driver's with imr4227 and imr4198 I also have tested AA 2015 on 80grs it shoot.s 1 inch at 200.
