Anyone ever set up a rifle in a 22br just for the 63gr class of custom 22cal bullets? Let me here all about it if so. Tell me about your rifle and what yardage you most shoot with it? I had a 22br a few years ago that loved 63gr ronnie cheek bullets and i wish like heck i wouldnt have sold that one. I think i may need another. A barrel that is!! Lee

Not 63 gn, but mine loves custom 62 and 68gn custom flat base bullets. It remains one of my most accurate barrels when used out to 5-600yds in F class. Only reason I dont use it more is the markers have problems finding the smaller bullet holes and it doesnt kick up much dirt. Also, since it hardly moves in recoil with a 22 lb gun, the scorers dont often know I have fired. Now that most ranges in my area are using electronic targets,I will be bringing the 22BR out more.
My current one is a Lilja 9" twist barrel which was CSC (catalytic surface conversion) treated and has lasted quite a few thousand rounds. It prefers the milder PMC (Wolf/Tula) SRM primers. I had another 22BR which was awsome as well, but this had an 8" twist barrel which I converted to 22BRX towards the end of its life. This was my go to F class gun for a few years before 284s were the in thing and the barrel shot out.
Overall I got more possibles (all Xs) with my 22BRs than with any of my newer cartridges so I had good luck with the 22BR.
Maximum range I shot my 22BR was 1200yds in long range F class/matchrifle comps. It held great elevation, but was starting to blow around compared to the big 7mms in the tricky winds. Still only a few points behind the magnums after 2 days shooting.
I,m going to see how they go with electronic targets, whether they pick up hits consistantly, and if so, will chamber another one or two. (possibly 9" and 7" twist)

I haven't tried custom bullets, but I have and still use 64 grain Bergers and out of a 1-12 twist barrel. Very accurate out to 600 yards
