60grn Sierra hp 6mm PPC

I'm interested in trying the 60hp Sierra in my 6ppc. Is anyone running these for varmints or fun paper punching? I've found where a few people talk about how accurate they are in various calibers. I'm having a difficult time finding anything using the search function. I'm guessing N133 would be a great start.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been using this bullet trying to work up a good accurate load. I used N-133 with a Fed 205 in a Norma case. Started at 27 grs and worked up to 28.5./ What seems to be working for me is 28 grs. It got me 3343 ft/sec (24" barrel) with .266 three shot groups. I will now try 5 shot groups and hope it holds together.
As for powder I would think H-322, LT-32. Benchmark, as well as N-133 would be a good ones to try. JMO

Great info, Murray!

I can verify from my own experience that both 28.0 grains of H322 and LT-32 works great with the Sierra 6mm 60 grain.

The only thing I would add, or ask, is what rifle / action is the OP using? Is this a strong and stout BR gun, or maybe a factory Sako A1?

The loads I listed above were used in a BAT B and various Kelbly BR actions.

The rifle is a Remington 40 XBR with a Shilen barrel.

As with any other reloading venture, consider starting 2 full grains lower and work up. It should be noted that 28.0 grains with Sierra 60gr is 1 grain above book max for H322.

I loaded a few at. 010 off and there isn't a lot of bullet in the neck. Compared to the 65 vmax, had to adjust my seating die out by a lot to get the 60 .010 off.

I guess it would depend on your chamber. Mine is chambered with a Manson reamer with zero freebore. So far it looks good.

I made it out to the range yesterday. For the first try with the 60grn Sierras, I am pleased. I used N133 powder, BR4 primers and I seated. 025 off the lands. The numbers look pretty good on the chrono, now if I could just get my bench manners under control the groups might get better too. For the next trip, I am going to play with seating depth. I just am not sure when getting to far off the lands is going to be too far. I guess I'll find out! It's been a windy spring here in eastern Kansas and yesterday was no exception, but fun none the less.
