600 Yard IBS Shooter of the Year

Steve Hoskin should be recognized as the "Shooter of the Year" in the IBS. I was waiting for some kind of announcement but did not notice anything. Figured it was time to say something.

All Photos - 1 of 1 (7).jpeg

Steve started and finished his championship season at Manatee in South Florida. Along the way he traveled much and shot often. Think he even endured a DQ as the gentleman he is. With his wife around, they were a fun couple to meet and interact with.

Good people make great champions. His total of 158.5 points in 600 IBS gave us all an example to literally "shoot for" in the future.

May Steve continue his winning ways in 2021.

It is long over due! Thanks Larry I was working on a little right up. Im having trouble posting pictures. But here’s the rest of the story! Apologies for the lack of photos.

IBS SOY 600 Yards

Steve Hoskins is the IBS 600 yard Shooter of the Year Champion! It was a tight race for most of the season with Steve Hoskins, Matt Koohy, and Bart Sauter battling for the top spot. Steve clinched the win with a dominating performance at the October match in Memphis, separating himself from the pack by some 30 plus points! Steve’s total for the year was 158.5 points. Bart Sauter edged Matt Koohy for second place by a mere 2 points with a total of 124.5. While Matt secured third place 122.5!

Nick Mansfield is our Top Rookie IBS 600 Shooter of the Year with a total of 63 points! I guess it’s a Family Tradition since this same title was won by his cousin Gabe Matheny last year. Nick battled with Hunter Hall (rookie and junior) for the title. Hunter maintained the lead for most of the year. However, Nick came on strong towards the end of the year shooting like a seasoned professional. Nick picked up a total of 48 points in the final 4 matches . Which includes back to back 2 Gun wins at the Red, White and Blue Range in Tennille Ga, as well as shooting a potential IBS 2 Gun score record. So Nick’s total could get an increase of 3 points if his record holds for a total of 66 points.

Hunter Hall takes top IBS Junior honors for Shooter the Year and 2nd place for IBS Rookie of the Year. Hunter shot extremely well for his first season securing 36 Shooter of Year points. Hunter had some note worthy wins at Piedmont Gun Club shooting against the big boys. Including taking top honors for Heavy Gun score and Heavy Gun overall for match 3 and winning Heavy gun group at match 4! Hunter’s 36 points place him tied for 25th on the overall Shooter of the Year list and placing him in front of many seasoned veterans.

Top Female honors goes to Joni Brown who secured 11 points. Joni is the daughter of our very own Accuurate Shooter member @Mulligan! It’s my understanding she’s been making it a habit of beating up on the boys! Great shooting!

Congratulations to All!

Really proud of Nick Mansfield for capturing Rookie of the Year!!!! He’s a MSSA brother and him and Cousin Gabe work together to make a winning team. Glad to call them friends and brothers!! Nick had a winning little league baseball team that took up a lot of his time and still was able to smoke all us rookies. Congrats brother ! I’m only sad that it was both our last rookie year. Time to put on dem baggy drawers and get them big point next year

Congratulations to all the 600 yard 2020 SOY winners! Points and wins DO NOT COME EASY IN IBS 600 Yard competition! And thats no joke! You all should be very proud of your selves! We are all proud of you!!

Congratulations to all the 600 yard winners . I know everyone wants to know as soon as they can but Jim has been waiting on records to be decided and there is usually a write up done when awards are handed out which will be a lot different this year but I think it will be pretty cool when it’s done . Thanks again to everyone that makes the long range circus go around it’s been a great year and will always be remembered as a crazy year and for all the LR winners it’s been even crazier . We all where bless to get most of our matches in this year and that within its self is a great achievement.
