600 AND 1000 YARD BENCHREST ACTION

Was curious what peoples preference in actions for these two disciplines were. Looking at equipment lists a guy sees Kelbly's, Borden's, Bat's and a smattering of some others. I haven't shot in these disciplines before but am interested in giving it a try. So if perfection was the hope, what action would you guys that shoot in these classes prefer and why. Thanks for any replies.

Used to do it with a Savage. They work well but could not get any kind of decent trigger that was safe. After wasting much time and money with the totally dangerous offerings from Rifle Basics and ruling out the time and effort to have Savage Shooters Supply work their magic, I gave up on Savage.

Bought two Stolle and one BAT as of right now. They work because the triggers for them work. To me, that was the biggest issue.

ive got a kelbly atlas on one, and a remington action on my other rifle but looking back i really wish i had built on a dual port. For shooting fast in tough conditions, dual port is the way to go.

Could you let me know which Rimrock you used and why, there's a bunch of different models. Thanks

Since I plan to shoot the Dasher for the foreseable future, I went with the Rimrock BR, which is a true short action. Think of a standard Remington short action as equivalent to a Rimrock BRM. I like the sorter bolt travel of the BR. I'll probably get a BRM in the future.

I know some guys that like Bat, but why is a Bat better than a Borden or a Kelbly?
In my opinion, the Bat's are a bit stiffer and operate a little slicker. You can also get them coated which really makes them fast to operate. I love the BAT model B that I have on my 6BRX.

It is not in my opinion. I would take either of the above over the Bat. I actually do own both and they are top notch. I think the Bats are monkey see monkey do. One thing they do excel at is galling lugs due to poor heat treat. Melonite is a band aid fix in my personal opinion.

Correct me if I am wrong, but haven't BAT actions won more national matches than all the others.

My 6 BR/6Dasher is a BAT MB...if done over again it would be a Borden BRM. My 308 F TR rig is a Borden BRM...best action I've ever used. When I shot short range BR I had a Stolle Panda action (Kelbly's). The Borden is so much easier to manipulate than a BAT. If shooting LR BR most diffidently get a dual port !!
