6 XC varmit loads QL recommends RL 17

Going to break in a new 6 XC barrel that has a 1 in 14 twist. I plan on shooting Berger 68 grain match to get a handle on how the rifle will shoot. QL recommends RL 17 as achieving the highest velocities...

So what would you try powder wise and anyone shooting this sort of twist rate 6 XC?

Reloader 15! ;)

I have several partners using it with the 1-14 and 1-12 twist barrels and they are both demonstrating exceptional accuracy and speed with the 65-70gr bullets.

I have a 1-10 twist that I use R-15 in with the 75gr Vmax on chucks & coyotes. Very accurate, clean, and ooohhh so deadly terminal performance. :D WD

Thanks, I've been leaning this way based on a feeling!

I'm excited to try this rifle.

LOL, the terminal effects sound more than adequate.

From my 10 twist, using 70gr bullets.... approx. 3550. With the 75gr Vmax's approx. 3480.

I got a coyote with the Vmax's last year that the Vmax didn't have an exit wound. ??? Boiler room shot, approx. 110yds. :o WD

Only fired 5 rounds of my starter load as QL disappointed me with RL 15. Using a 65 Hornady V-max and 39.0 grains achieved 3506 ft/secs with an SD of 17. I was able to zero the rifle with those 5 rounds, but will be starting my ladder on the first floor tomorrow.

QL had suggested 41.6 grs as maximum with 55 KPSi, oh well.

Should yu see this and be so inclined, I'm curious as to what charges you are using WyleWD?

Thanks
