6 XC and RL-25

I shot my Rem. 700 with a Hart 30" 1-8" barrel chambered in 6 XC in its first 600 yd. comp. Sat. and was disappointed with a group agg. of 3.456" in the HG class, it weighs just under 17 lbs.) I have been using N-160 and 107 SMK's but got to studying my QuickLoad data for this rifle and saw that RL-25 fills the case and prop. burnt is 99.8% so I gave it a try at 100 yds across a chrono and got really good SD's but velocity was less than my N-160 load. At 500 yds so far my groups are tighter shooting three shot groups. I've never heard of RL-25 being used in this cartridge and was wondering if anyone else has tried it in the 6 XC. The only downside I see at this point is its a bit dirty.

Try Rl22 it should give better velocity and burn cleaner as the pressure will be up Also try H4831sc and even H1000 all have potential. I will be testing them all in a 6X47 Lapua

Eggman,
Give the slow stuff a miss, this cartridge has H4350 written all over it. Clean burning and will get you the speed you want.

i shoot a Rem. 700 with a 29" Broughton 5-C 1 in 8" twist bbl. I use 38.0 grains of H-4350 and get 3002fps with 105gr. uncoated bullets, both Lapua and Hornady. SD is always in the teens. The rifle is accurate to the point of boring.,Ya gotta love that!)

N165 will work very well also. You can still get around 3000 fps in a 28" bbl. Less throat wear than H4350 or even N160.

With what bullet weight and powder charge. Also, what bbl. length are you shooting?
