6 x47 NOT Lapua

Just wondering if anyone still shoots the 6/6.5 X 47 Not Lapua rounds same as the 222 Rem. mag. case ?
Reason I'm asking, while cleaning out some "rat holes" I found about 200 Fed. Match 6 X 47 cases, and am thinking about selling them ??
Thanks

I still have a barrel for my 40x, but seldom shoot the triple duece, or the 6x47 anymore. Are they neck turned? what diameter?

I shot one from the bench in the early 80's till I finally figured out the "NEW" PPC's were just going to keep kicking my a**. Sold the gun to another old die hard and never looked back. Now a new 6BR convert and Still am getting my a** kicked by the PPC's. :D
This time, I believe I will be able to bite back. Havn't even heard of anybody with a 6x47 non-L in the last 10 years. Thanks rc

I would be very interested in the cases. Please send me price and condition. I use the 6x47 for coyote hunting.

Thanks

Had a 6x47 Rem built on a 340 Savage action back in the mid 1980`s. Not the greatest action in the world but with a McGowen barrel was a cheap build and accurate to boot. Headspaced the mailorder barrel myself using the Savage barrel nut and a .222 Mag case. Worked great.

Necked up and loaded the cases with a cut down set of old Lyman .243 dies. Neck sized only. Had to keep the loads on the mild side with no F/L sizing. Brutal but effective.

Dynamite on g`hogs on a local golf course out in the Ontario boonies. Got to know the owner and he wanted me to declare war on the fairway den builders. I was in Caddy Shack before the script was even written. Was there at sunrise before the members arrived and plunked 6 or so chucks then cleared out. One morning I met a husband and wife, unusually early arrivals, with the rifle slung on my back. They never said a word, staring at me as I got into my car. The owner never said anything to me about it.

Best load was 28.5 gr W748 and 70 gr Hornady sp. Chronod at 2900 fps. Regularly put three into 3/4 inch at 100 yds.

Never tried the bullet on "brush wolves", what Ontario farmers called coyotes. They weren`t that big a deal back then. Now the war is declared on the brush wolves which have eaten all the g`hogs. The Ontario hay fields and fairways are devoid of chuck dens. They are hiding deep in the woods where they lived before the white man arrived.

Your thread has awoken a lot of memories. Good luck in your sale.

my hunting partner shot a 6x47 on p. dogs and jack rabbits shooting H335 and Sierra 60g hp with a velocity of 3450-3550, he never wore the barrel out. H335 is sure easy on barrels in that caliber. I know he had at least 6000 rounds down the tube on our last hunt, and it was still shooting in the 3's.

I have a 6.5x47(222mag) in an XP made in the mid/late 70's, still has the same barrel and shoots as well as the day I bought it in the late 70's. A nice rig for deer @ 200 or less.
