6 X 45MM

Considering a 6 x 45MM for 300 yard max. walking varmiter.
,already have a 6br and 6.5-06 for long stuff)
70 gr. bullets same speed as 55 gr. in .223 with better B.C.
Reason is to avoid opening bolt face on exist. action, long barrel life and less recoil/lower noise than another 6BR.
If bolt face is opened up for 6BR wouldn't I need to install a
Sako type extractor?
Opinions and experience with this caliber????

6x45 is very accuarte and easy I have one on Sako action with 1 in 12 barrel all in a SAKO Varmint from macMillan

chamber is cut with a JGS stock reamer, no tight neck )

for real 300 yards I will go in 6x47 even if case are a bit more hard to find or 6 TCU BUT for rifle use use a reamer with short throat, regular 6 TCU is very deep throated

check too a 223 with 75 grain bullet and 1 in 8

good shooting

Dantec,
What are the heaviest bullets you can use in your 6 x 45 with 12 twist?
What velocities are you getting?
Are you using this gun for varmits or target shooting?
Thanks, Jerry

I am in the process of evaluating a Howa 1500 Varminter that has been rebarreled to 6X45. Work by Bordon, Hart barrel, less than 20 rounds fired. Will trade him a Ruger 77VT in 22PPC that shoots 1/2" all day. I'm waiting on a set of dies I won on ebay before I can load up some ammo and test the rifle.

Any advice?

Thanks, Glenn

Glen,
Reloadersnest.com has some limited loads for the 6x45MM.
Just a 70 and 75 gr. loading. The velocities are consertive from other data I have seen. What will you do with this rifle?
Cheers, Jerry
