6 x 45 AI......6 TCU??

Anyone know which case has more capacity??

It seems that they are similar BUT NOT interchangable.

Just looking for clarification.

Thanks Guys,
Phil.

Had a TCU, not worth hassle, go 6x223 or 222, depending on COL mag box if in a mag fed.

If you need more - get a BR or larger. A 6/204 or 222 Mag might yield a touch more, but your splitting hairs.

on another forum i asked about a 6x45 AI to get more speed as opposed to my 6x45 as it is and was advised to go with the 6 TCU as the difference in case capacity doesn't make any difference in mv and redding has 6 TCU dies. i was also advised the gain in mv was minimal. i'm undecided as to chambering a 6x45 AI or 6 TCU as a switch barrel. i can't help but believe i could get quite a bit of increased mv with the 27 in barrel over the pistol barrels for which the TCUs were designed. if you build one , please let me know.

I have built several rifles in 6tcu. Current rifle has a 10 twist at 21" and shoots the 85 sierra hpbt at 3000 without issues. Pushed the 55nbt to 3700 in a 14 twist 26" barrel and it loved the 60hp at 3600. The little case will surprise you and yields a marked gain in velocity over its parent just like the .223 vs .223ai! I built a couple 8 twist rifles at 22" amd we pushed the 95mk to 2950 with stellar accuracy and down range performance. Even loaned it to some new shooters for practical matches and they did well.

My records show that the 6 x47 has a capacity of 31.9 and the TCU 32.6 not much difference but the TCU will move bullets down range at the speeds posted by Chuck Williams. It also has out standing accuracy. The only reason that I stopped using it was having a 6PPC that was a little more accurate.

Thank you Chuck Williams!!! All I needed was a little prodding. A 13.5 twist shooting 62-66 gr bullets that my current 6x45 loves should put the fear in local ghogs. A 6TCU is as good as done. I'll do some thinking on a pt&g reamer, probably with no freebore. Any dos or don't here?

I dont have a spec sheet on my reamer but suspect its zero freebore. It has worked fine with everything but is ideal with the 55-85gr bullets. I really like the cartridge......... ALMOST as much as the .223ai! Like lpreddick stated, dont expect PPC accuracy but i would be very surprised not to be in the .250 range.
