6 SLR what barrel

Hey guys, I am getting things together for 6 SLR build. Am getting confused as to what length, twist and contour would be best.
I originally intended to use Bartlein, my first thoughts were a 26", 5R, .236, 1:7.5 and a Med Palma contour. Would like to shoot 105 hybrids and possible 115's. Magazine feed is not an issue.
This will be on a trued Rem700 and an MDT ESS chassis.
If YOU were going to build a 6 SLR, what would you be using.... : )

Tia,
Rick

your on the money there or close, maybe stretch the the length to 27 or 28 depending how important velocity is to you , the 7.5 twist easily handles 115's and should be good with sierra's 110 if you decide to try it, that contour is fairly heavy, if you dont mind the weight .

my personal 6mm slr is a ss rem 700 receiver, ptg bottom metal in a bobby hart laminate stock with aluminum bedding block, it wears a 27.5" krieger 4 grove 7.5 twist, in a modified sendero contour, its plus 1" at the breech for a ez setback if i torch the throat, I've shot a .370" 5 shot group at 200 with 115vldh's off bipod and shoulder i.e no rear bag.

btw ,whats your location ? ive got a used once 6slr reamer , i believe its the jgs 1307

Thanks for the info 74. Weight really wont be an issue as this will be a bench gun most of the time. I main goal is build a gun I can beat my buddies out of beer and whiskey at 600 & 1000 yd shoots.....LOL
One thing I forgot to mention, I will be hanging a SilencerCo Omega can off the end once in a while, one of the reasons I was thinking 26". A little less velocity wont bother me if as long as its accurate.
I am located in Salem, Oregon

I’m shooting a Brux 7.5 twist in a 32” Med. Palma. Running 110 SMK bullets at 3,155.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd, I appreciate the info.
I keep hearing about the M24 straight match contour....wonder what the advantages of a straight profile vs a blended ?....maybe snake oil....LOL

Mine was a bartlein 1:7.5 twist, 28" barrel, heavy varmint contour. Used to shoot the berger 115 VLD's.
shot great, you'll love it.

An M24 has a taper to it. I would say it is a mini heavy varmint contour, the shank dia is 1.200" compared to most barrels that start out at 1.250". I think most come with a 5" shank length too. I was going to suggest M24 yesterday, I like the barrels, it offers you a heavier barrel w/o being uber heavy.
I transitioned to marksman contour barrels on a few builds, I have some observations that I cannot substantiate, but I'm going back to M24's, and sold a pile of lighter barrels recently.

My build is a marksman bartlein 5r 1:7.5. Just waiting on a custom reamer from jgs.

what is their current back log.....I called them about 2 Months ago to have a shorter throat reamer made for my 6.5CM and they were 12 weeks wait!....yikes

Thanks for the comments and advise. Have one coming now....to late to change my mind....LOL
