6 PPC Seating Depth

The ultra is around .2435 on the pressure ring and the BT is .2435-.2437. This being measured with some pretty serious equipment and controlled conditions so of course YMMV. If you need a fatter bullet i suggest the wedge. They work very well in the larger button barrels. They are .2439 on the pressure ring

Thanks Dusty, what neck diameter is considered desirable now days. I know the .262" and .263" were established with the early brass, and it being thinner than Lapua. I am asking because I am thinking I will have a reamer made..

The trend has gone to thicker necks for more and more consistent neck tension. Also why turn off all that good brass really it just makes em fragile. I use a .268. Some use a .269 rarely any bigger than that. If you go bigger youll have too much clearance when you uniform cut the brass. So we go .268 to be safe now and if the brass changes. All neck dias shoot well and all have their ups and downs so its a personal thing. So 268 is my choice for the reasons above.

.268" it is! My contact at JGS sent me a print, that I can make my adjustments to, and its based off the 220 Russian Lapua. .060" freebore. I understand freebore, that a range between .035" and .060" is a good universal length.

I shoot BRDX 308 BF with mini M-16 extractor,,I read of people shooting PPC off bolts like mine but if it is gonna be an issue I may do a straight 6 BR or maybe a 30BR ,,

I want a dedicated bbl for 300 yards that will last over 1500 rounds,,

I don't know what your action is. My Bat has a 308 bolt face that will also extract a ppc
So you maybe fine idk need a little more info on you rifle. I'm sure Dusty can help if we know a little more

it is Stiller Tac 30 repeater action bedded in ST1000F stock with Sinclair SS follower bedded to stock to make action single shot in this stock and repeater when in my AICS 1.5,,I think the bolts Stiller uses are PT&G with a mini M16 extractor not the Sako extractor,,

Tim Claunch does my machine work and if he gets a PPC reamer I may try it but hate to have to buy another bolt,,

"big",,,why dont you put a PPC ctg in it and see if it pulls it and ejects properly,,,,use your imagination,,,Roger

I e-mailed Russ at Stiller and he said it will not completely pull a PPC case, only as long as the case stays straight, as it leaves the chamber it will drop a PPC case. This for a Stiller TAC30

You could take out the ejector and that wouldn't be a problem anymore. I've seen guys do it for other short cases like .221 fireballs in actions designed for .223's.
