6 Norma Dasher Improved???

anybody taken the new Norma Dasher long neck brass and blown the shoulder forward ??

it should make enough room to bump up from 36.5 to the 39 to 39.3 grs range of H4350/ RL17 which could maybe be worthwhile with the new 110 SMK or 115 DTACS.

any thoughts ??

no I mean to start with Norma Dasher brass that has the long BR neck and blow the shoulder forward to where it would still have the original Dasher length neck ,,

@mr.big -
Do bare in mind, more capacity does not directly correlate to more velocity, but does indirectly.
Meaning, and in the case of "improving" the Norma 6Dasher, more capacity also would mean less efficiency. So while improving the case for more capacity, will also rob efficiency, which will effect the amount of velocity gain to an improvement in capacity.

I dont think there is a case the size I am looking at,,it would be about half way between a Dasher and a XC,,

surely someone has already done this???

It would be easy to make, run the Norma Dasher reamer in followed by a Lapua Dasher of lesser neck diameter to where ever you wanted it.

if nobody else is gonna do it Tim we may have to give it a whirl,,I think it would optimize the H4350 burn rate ,,the worse that can happen is it wont work,,LOL

I'm curious as well. What do you do when they give you brass you don't have to fireform...? Make a super Dasher of course!

Without doing anything to the case, just taking advantage of the longer neck, will gain capacity itself over a Lapua 6Dasher. Chamber with a long throat, to then seat the bullets out in the longer neck, will gain capacity.

6-47L is between the dasher and xc. If you want the 40 degree shoulder, set a reamer up to push the neck/shoulder junction back and leave he shoulder/body junction in the same place. Still has a long neck and Lapua brass, win/win. That would be my thinking. I'm at 39.7gr of H4350 under a 105 in my straight 6-47L so that would be right at your requirement for the 110-115s

I don't think you are going to improve that case over a normal dasher to amount to a hill of beans.

This sounds reasonable. I run 40.0gr RL-17 in my 6x47L behind 105's and there is still room for a couple more grains, and the 40deg shoulder should reduce trimming dramatically from my experience with the Dasher.
