6 mm Dasher

I had my bench rifle in 6 br 1/8 twist rebarreled by Hart (ny) into a 6 Dasher 1/8 twist I bought 500 Berger Hybrids and spent last year trying to get it to shoot decent groups.I also tried 105 Lapua,& 105 a max, all at different seating depths. with not very good 300 yd performance Then I remembered how good the br shot the Berger vlds. so this year I bought 500 vld 105s all loads were with Varget powder (32.0 grns ) and using Eric Cortinas seating depth test the Dasher at .003 in to the rifleing is shooting sub .500 groups. some you win and most you dont

Might want to go back to the 6BR or maybe try a 6BRA. There are also some really good shooting 6BRX running around.

The Dasher to some is a bit trickier to tune, but once you do it will shoot.
So have gave up on it for that reason. Depends if you find that right
combination early on. Try changing one thing at a time.
You changed bullets, did you try a different powder?
I know components and barrel life are a concern.

True as to the tuning....that said, A load of Varget, A 105gr Berger, or Vapor Trail, Barts...etc should get you a load that is sub 1/2" easily at 100 yds..... As will a Br, Brx, Bra.....it's a good time to be a shooter...rsbhunter

Could be a bunch of things from chambering, action screws, scope, shooter.
Load. etc. etc.
"using Eric Cortinas seating depth test the Dasher at .003 in to the rifleing"
Did you try any other seating depths besides .003?
Sounds like from your post, that was the only depth you tried.
Might have read it wrong.
You also posted that all loads were @32.0 of Varget with the vld's.

32.0gr of Varget seems a little light by Dasher standards. I’m shooting 32.0gr of H4895 with a velocity of 3005fps. This is with a custom bullet. Most Dashers shoot well on the low side say 2980-3015 and on the high side 3040-3060. Don’t rely solely on Varget, H4895 and believe it or no RE-15.5 shoots extremely well.

I have found in my experience with Dashers. All with.266 necks and all with.155fb they all shot very well with 103-105gr bullets using Varget between 33.5-42.0gr of Varget. All barrels using the same reamer. Seating depth will vary, from slight touch to .008” in.

So GT is saying that he won, when he went to 105 vld and .003 depth test ?
