6 mm dasher question

I do have a bunch of 105 Berger's and 107 Sierra's. I would like to shoot some paper as well with the Bart's. Maybe I can't do both with the same twist? Like to find a happy medium

Yes you can. An 8 Twist will do it

I'm not convinced that the twist is too critical unless you're shooting short range benchrest. I have 6mm guns with 7, 7.5 and 8 twist and shoot 105/107s in all and they shoot well. The exception might be the 6XC that shoots 115 dtacs. I think the 7 twist is best for it, though I shot some in the 6BR with an 8, out of curiosity, and they shot kind of ok Had to run them real slow because no room for enough powder and not enough freebore (for dtacs).

A 7.5” will shoot every bullet except the 115 Berger, which no one shoots in a Dasher anyways. Anything in the 27”-30” will get it done nicely. .140”-.150” free bore gets the bullet out enough to allow a little extra powder and still chase the lands if need be.

Call Dan Dowling in Grand Jct, Co 970 434-0525. He developed the round. Can tell what to shoot! for anything up to 108's a 1-8 twist will be fine. 110's and Dtac's 1-7 twist.

Send it to Carlsbad or Greg Tannel. Greg has a really long back log so I'd talk to Carlsbad first and he's a regular good guy around the forum.

the best shooter are 30and 31 lingth 135 fab 3170 fps with 36.6 gr of H4350 and 105
Before we lost our 1000 year range
I had on order 36’’ barrel and was going to increase the fb
And was going to shoot 3400
or faster

3170 FPS with a 105gr bullet and a Dasher is INSANE over-pressure and is very dangerous.

I just discussed this with a past 600-yard IBS shooter of the year and his comment was "I run in the mid-2900s and even 3050 fps is very extreme"

Honestly I do not know if the person who posted that was serious but his numbers are way out of the extreme pressure range and I cannot allow this to recommended to our readers.

Barts work good in an 8tw. Get it 27.5-28” with a .125fb and you can shoot em all day long. Cant figure out why you wouldnt shoot barts bullets at a gong- i shoot crows, turtles, coyotes and anything else i care to draw down on

Take the bolt release off the trigger and install a external release where it stops the bolt where it need to be for short bolt travel
