6 dasher velocity r-15 and varget 108 berger loads

today i got to shoot some of my dasher loads, we only have one chronograph and assume its working fine

here was my velocity with 108 bergers 8thousands off lands lapua brass cci 450
kreiger 28" barrel 8 twist
Was about 60 degrees today

32.8 reloader - 2906 average 5 shot SD - 7 ES ?? not sure i think 20
32.8 varget - 2966 average 5 shot SD - 2.8 ES - 7

this seem about right? just got the gun few weeks ago and just now getting to shoot it

was very windy today groupds ranged from 2" to 4" at 400 yards 15mph or better cross wind

no signs of pressure so far

should i work with the low SD varget load and tune seating depth? or should i try to load them up a little hotter

what are youi guys seeing with your dasher and 108 bergers

What's the barrel length?
At what ambient and ammo temperatures?

Both would be slow compared to my Dasher's (30" barrels at 65-F base-line)

Updated temp was 60 out today ammo was out in same temps
Barrel is 28" it is listed above!

I also thought it was slightly low I think ammo base to ogive is 1.830 which is 8 thousand off the lands

Sorry I missed that..... mine would be +3000-fps in comparison.

That's fine and that's what I have been seeing I have a freebore of 104, I'll have to play a little more with it and see what happens maybe push a little more powder I may have a slower lot of reloder

32.6 Varget is where my 104 fb w/ 105's land...but I'm just over 3000fps normally too. I'd work with what you have there, good numbers.

The RL15 I've shot to get the same Varget speed is normally .5 grains higher. You won't be able to run as much RL as johara with a 104 freebore.

I must have the slowest 20 barrels in the country, it takes 33.4 of Varget to crack 3000 with a 106 with a .135 FB. usually end up at 34+ with both RL-15 or Varget with no pressure and i weigh on a GD 503.

Freebore makes a big difference, a .104 will build pressure/speed quicker. I'm weighing on an ANDfx. My speeds are over an Ohler 35.

Hence the reason I made the point he couldn't put your charge in his barrels...I'd be blowing through primers before 34 grains, I'm confident of that.

Your velocities are just fine, every barrel is different and so is every chronograph. Just remember accuracy is the most important thing, you don't have to go over 3000fps just because other people do.

im not trying to push that high, the sweet spot seems to be 2960-2970 and no pressure issues
my velocity just seemed slow for the reloder i thought
i have some loaded up a little higher to test along with my varget seating depth test at 32.8

Motoman,
Your Varget load is right around where my last several Dasher barrels have shot at just over 3000 fps. Thing is, they ran at about 2960 fps until after about 100 rounds down the tube and suddenly the velocity jumped to 3000 fps.
Just seems to be the normal in my guns. From your original post, I am assuming this is a new barrel?
