6 Dasher twist rate

Hi there every one , can the members please advise best twist rate for 55g noslers and say 100 to 110g pills for Deer. Reason for question as i want a varmint, and Deer on same tube if that is possible , many thanks Lee

You have to twist it enough to stabilize the longest bullet. 8 twist will do well up to the 108s, it will also shoot the 55s well. I have done a lot of varmint rifles with 8 twists, they explode much better spun up like that. The long freebore needed for the 105s will hurt the 55's accuracy more than the excessive twist will. Short bullets dont like to jump much in my experience.

I suggest to go heavier then 55's for the varmint aspect, like at least 70-grainer's.
Years back I had 243-Ackley's that used for prairre-dogs/coyotes and the barrels that I used 55-grainer's did not live as long as barrels that I used +70-grain bullets in. Friction no doubt being why. Later I figured out that the 87-VMax is great varmint bullet and increased my barrel life even more, and gave me a bunch more distance capability then the lighter bullets.

Why is that 87 max so great?

With my 243-Ackley's I could hotrod them to +3500, so they were flat similar to light bullets, but would carry out to even 800yds with what I consider very good accuracy. Plus at distance, they had a lot of knock over power for a coyote. Even gunned a few prairie dogs well past 1000yds, showing there extended distance capability.

Sort to speak, had real good all around accuracy and performance with them, and really like em' !.!.!
