6 Dasher to 1000yds???

OK....Here is my question.

6 Dasher...87Vmax bullet....1000 yards.......20MOA base.....3200-3300fps?????(rifle not finished yet)

Will a 12-42 NSX have enough MOA to reach 1000yds.?????

Phil.

Just makes it supersonic at 1k at sea level @ 3200fps according to my computer. 28-29 moa up from 100yrd zero. NSX should be able to crank with a 20moa base.

I`m hoping for more speed than 3200,but i`m trying to keep it keep my expectations real..

It`s just a varmint rig,so i`m thinking the 87 vmax will be ok .....

Anything higher than 3200 should be G to G, wind will be fun, hehe ;)

What twist BTW? It might loose some stability as the projectile slows down in a slower twist. I have no experience on this projectile and the Dasher. I'm just going off what the ballistic calc says, so take what I've presented with a grain of salt. :)

I`ll probably wimp out and use a 10 twist.....really like to get away with a 12 though.....

I don't know about the 87's but this very close, a 105 takes 24 min. from your 100 yd. zero to be on at 1K. So the 45 min. of elevation in the scope and the zero at 100 being around center it can't do it,you only have 22.5 from center. If you use the Burris sig rings with a + 10 in back and a zero in the front it will work............jim

A better comparison would be with the 6X47. Same load, but small primer pocket. Brass only needs to be run through a sizing die.

Personally, I'd run an 8 twist and 105 A-Max for distances to 1000 or better, and run a 5.5-22 with 100 MOA on tap on a 20 MOA base.

No wait....I did.......only on a 40 MOA base......

alf, you can reach out to a country mile with 140 MOA!!

Naay, I'm 20 MOA off the bottom of the scope, so that leaves me only 120.......

;D

Voldoc Stone has killed many prarie dogs at 1,000 Plus with a 12 twist Dasher.
The 12 twist is fine for the 87. But the 8 or 9 twist with 105 A-Max would be
better. 7.5 or 8 with 115 DTAC will will reach out even longer. My friend John
Kruzan made lots of 1,000 yard dog kills with his Dasher with the 105 A-max
on our last trip. More devasting kills with the A-max.
With the 115's about 25 MOA + or - up from 100 yd zero is needed to 1,000 yd
with the Dasher.
Here is my set-up for a 1394 yd dog kill witnessed by Voldoc and JR Carter.

Phil, you are right, eyes and what ever are failing in old age. I don't think you will have any problem with elevation but with 87's you may smoke your windage knobs......jim

You will have a higher percentage of hits on 1,000 yd PD's
with the heavier bullets but the 87 V-max will get 'er done.
This photo is from the'09 PD Safari and Voldoc had just
made his first hit at 1,000 with the 87's. We were having
a 1,000 yd shootoff. He jumped out ahead. I loaded
12 more rounds and made 2 hits to tie the score.
