6 Dasher the New Creedmoor.

Seems folks wanting info on the 6 BRA are being over run by the Dasher as it is an even better round than the legendry Creedmoor... Please praise the Dasher here and bash all other lesser rounds. Loading data would be great too.

I don’t understand your mindset Steve, “Please praise the Dasher here and bash all other lesser rounds”.

This isn’t snipers hide, and I don’t understand why your looking to stir up a storm.

My personal opinion is that “The Shooter” will have a lot more to do with the competitive outcome than the actual caliber, if the rifles are built to full potential accuracy. - it appears that you’ve never competed in any type of match where it’s well known that shooters skill trumps caliber.

At the Florida Championships this past January, champion Bart Sauter was barely ahead of a novice shooter, Mark Nezbastoski. Mark was using my original Savage Bostrom build with a barrel that had near 3,000 rds. through it. Dasher. Mark was shooting Dasher.

Just saw Mark this past Thursday at the range. He was testing his new barrel. Dasher. The camera pictures he had at 600 yards showed it will again be competitive. His last steel match was a 25/25 with the old Dasher barrel also. My current run of 50/50 steel at 600 is with a Dasher barrel having 1,900+ rounds through it. My load is 33.5 gr. of Varget with 105 Hybrids in a 7.5 twist Bartlein. New barrel being chambered for it right now is ... Dasher.

Now I'm not saying my Dasher beats my different BRA's. It is faster and very competitive and has been easier to shoot well than my "fussy" BRA's at 50+ fps slower. When I want good results - Dasher.

There is another thread asking for load data on 6 BRA. It was hijacked and became a Dasher is king thread. I got miffed and posted this to satisfy there needs to tout the Dasher and praise it to be far more Creedmoor than the Creedmoor cult..

That is still a valuable thread on the BRA. Sad how people get sidetracked when someone changes the subject and the whole thing goes off. A source of loads for BRA is a wonder resource. Same for the Dasher. Sure wish people could stay on topic.

On this topic here many in south Florida are chambering back to Dasher from BRA. Varget, H4350 and Reloader 16 seem to be better in Dasher than BRA. Literally have not read much of anyone using H4895 in Dasher. That's a BRA thing.

I've had people question me why I shoot the 6 dasher ( I shoot prone sling irons @ 600 and 1k) I first built 2 guns one for 600 (6Dasher) and one for 1k (243Ai pushing 115 @3150). Now after 2 years back into shooting my 243ai is shot out at 800rds and my dasher is still going strong and I'm shooting it at 1k now with better scores at 1k than the 243Ai did . I do have to watch the wind more but I have less than half the vertical with the dasher . I think with the right powder I can make the 115 shoot great at 1k.
Can we make 6Dasher t shirt . "Got Dasher" lol

Larry,

Mark shot great but Agg wise the 6BRA was way out front! I just suck at shooting score!

Why is it hard to believe?
Because it’s so much easier to load up some 6XC and go to town. (For example). An XC shoots get small (enough) groups, is factory brass, and it feeds well. The ballistics are very good as well. It’s just more practical.

On three occasions I fire-formed 6Dasher's at FClass (1000yd) matches and won all three while doing so. There were 6XC's among my competitors.
Except for the 1 extra expansion step to neck up for a false-shoulder, the loading ease was basically the same, and on "factory brass" as well !.!.!

So you won 3 F class matches with a 6br?
